Local Knowledge: Smoke & Fire Handmade Tiles

The other week I took a visit to the Smoke and Fire tiles showroom in Darsham, I have driven pass many times seeing the building and not realising the wonderful handmade gems that lay within the building of the old granary.

While there I met Boris Aldridge who was delighted to show me their extensive range of handmade tiles which were hung in beautiful display panels throughout the show room. He explained that his father Mark Aldridge first established Smoke and Fire in Lincolnshire but moved down to Suffolk in 2000 and moved his business into the old Granary.

Mark and his team produce all tiles on site using contemporary techniques and traditional methods resulting in truly unique pieces that would create a statement in any home. Boris Aldridge is also well known for his ceramic artwork that he does independently you can check out his work on his instagram page here.

The studio and workshop are open to the public so that visitors can see the process for themselves, they also accept custom commissions so that you can have an original one-off design for yourself. If you would like anymore information you can visit their website here.
